Deadlines for graduation ceremonies and diploma dates are indicated on the Petition to Graduate form.
Petitions received after the deadlines will be forwarded to the next commencement ceremony date.
Due before ceremony date:
All students must meet all requirements for graduation by October 1, 2010, to be eligible to walk in the August 21, 2010, ceremony. Successful completion of ALL requirements for degree completion includes, but is not limited to, credits earned, GPA, examinations, internship, practicum, and dissertation. All accounts must also be paid in full. - If I am not attending a graduation ceremony, do I have to pay the graduation fee?
- Yes, all students must submit a Petition to Graduate form and applicable fees in order to graduate, even if you choose not to participate in the commencement ceremony.
- When will I receive my diploma?
- The date of degree conferral recorded on your diploma will reflect the date you complete all degree requirements. Degree completion is generally recorded on a student's official transcript within 30 days of completion of ALL program requirements. Diplomas are generally ordered within 30 days of completion of all program requirements and payment of all related tuition and fees. Ordered diplomas may take six to eight weeks to arrive. Diplomas, certificates, and transcripts will be withheld until all accounts at the University are paid in full. Diplomas will not be issued at the graduation ceremony.
- When will my official transcript reflect my degree awarded?
- Degree completion is recorded on your official transcript within 30 days after completion of ALL program requirements. The Request for Transcripts form includes an option to send the transcript after the degree is posted. Transcripts will not be released until your account balance is paid in full, including the graduation fee.
- How do I request my official transcripts?
- Once your degree is awarded, one official transcript will be mailed to your current address. You can order additional official University of the Rockies transcripts at $5 per copy. Please complete a Transcript Request form.
- How do I request faculty to provide a recommendation for me?

Complete a Student Request for Recommendation form and send it directly to the University of the Rockies individual from whom you are requesting a recommendation. Please be sure to explain exactly what you need in your request, in addition to sending the form.
Please also be aware that requests for recommendations are fulfilled at the professor’s or staff member’s discretion. Professors may choose to fulfill a request right away, may require a longer timeline to write letters, or may decline to fulfill requests.
You may direct questions concerning this process to the Office of the Registrar. - How do I order my cap and gown?
- Students must have completed a Petition to Graduate form, be eligible to attend, and have indicated that they will participate in the ceremony to have a cap and gown ordered. The cap and gown will be mailed prior to the graduation ceremony.
- How do I order personalized announcements?
- Since 1920, Herff Jones has been providing class rings, commencement regalia, announcements, college diploma frames, and other graduation products to colleges across the nation. - Will University of the Rockies hold a practice for commencement?
- No. There will not be a practice for commencement. A timeline of the day’s events is below.
